Waterfront
If there's one thing Citrus County has plenty of, it's amazing waterfront property. With seven major waterways meandering through the area, one is sure to find the perfect property or home.
Citrus County is located on the west coast of Florida. The county's western side features both the Crystal River and Homosassa River. These beautiful rivers are spring fed and held at a constant and pleasant 72-degree temperature year round. These rivers' most famous resident is the manatee, which migrate to these warm waters during the winter months. Along these rivers, boaters, fishermen, and swimmers can take in the wide variety of native fish, plant, and birdlife.
Beautiful homes line the rivers, but it is on the banks of Kings Bay that the most luxurious homes in Crystal River are found. These waterways empty directly into the Gulf of Mexico, providing easy access to open waters for boaters and fishermen. Many homes along these waterway have backyard docks and some sort of watercraft to enjoy lazy or adventurous days on the water.
Just to the north and east, the Rainbow River gently bubbles along. This river is particularly popular with swimmers, who delve into the waters with tubes and rafts to be carried downriver in the peaceful current. Nature abounds here, with enormous cypress trees, emerald lake grasses, and plenty of magnificent wildlife, and set amongst these are beautifully built homes and estates. Boaters also traverse this spring-fed river, but must be cautious of floating traffic.
In the eastern part of the county, the mighty Withlacoochee River flows. Here, fishermen can find some of the best bass fishing in the state. Additionally, this part of the county has an incredible system of lakes. The Tsala Apopka Lake Chain is comprised of 50 smaller lakes, including Big Lake Henderson. Homes along the shores of the lake have marvelous lake views, where great blue heron, snowy egrets, turtles, and playfully jumping fish are a common sight. One can even glimpse the occasional alligator cruising through the glassy water.
These are just some of the magnificent waterfront areas in Citrus County. While properties are abundant, they are not unlimited. Discover Citrus County's water\rfront and find your dream home today!
